19 Fatalities From Israeli Bombardments in Southern and Eastern Lebanon

Israeli airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon late Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least 19 individuals and injuries to 35 others.

The strikes targeted the regions of Nabatiyeh and Bint Jbeil in Nabatiyeh Governorate, as well as the city of Sidon in the South Governorate and the districts of Baalbek and Hermel in the Baalbek-Hermel Governorate.

In Nabatiyeh, Israeli warplanes struck the Kassar Zaatar neighborhood, claiming five lives and injuring 21, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.

In Bint Jbeil, Israeli aircraft targeted the village of Haris, resulting in two fatalities, as reported by Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.

In Sidon, an airstrike on the town of Tefahta led to six deaths.

In Baalbek, an Israeli attack on a home in Nabi Sheet killed one person and injured four others, although the severity of the injuries was not specified by the National News Agency.

Additionally, in the Baalbek-Hermel region, an Israeli airstrike resulted in five deaths and ten injuries in the al-Maali area, with the Lebanese Ministry of Health providing no details on the injuries’ severity.

In a separate incident, the Israeli military conducted multiple airstrikes in three areas of southern Beirut, Lebanon’s capital. According to Anadolu, these strikes hit the neighborhoods of Laylaki, Borj El Brajneh, and Haret Hreik.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from these strikes.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli army had warned residents of four buildings in these neighborhoods to evacuate before the attacks commenced.

Beirut’s southern suburbs, known as Dahiyeh, serve as a stronghold for Hezbollah.

Haret Hreik, located in the heart of the suburbs, spans an area of 1.82 square kilometers (0.70 square miles) and is situated 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) from Beirut. This densely populated area is considered the political center of the Lebanese group, housing its security and political offices, including its command center, parliamentary offices, and Shura Council.

Since last month, Israel has launched a significant air campaign in Lebanon, targeting what it claims are Hezbollah positions, escalating tensions following a year of cross-border conflict that intensified with Israel’s aggressive offensive on Gaza.

According to Lebanese health authorities, at least 2,546 individuals have been killed and over 11,860 injured in Israeli attacks since October last year.

On October 1 of this year, Israel expanded the conflict by initiating a ground assault in southern Lebanon.
