Iran Denies Collapse of Resistance Axis After Assad’s Ouster

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei firmly dismissed claims that the collapse of Syria’s long-time president Bashar al-Assad marked the end of the Tehran-backed resistance axis. In a televised address, Khamenei called out Israel and the U.S. for their miscalculation, asserting that the resistance remains unbroken despite the political upheaval in Syria. He pointed to the ongoing actions of the Zionist regime and U.S. as the true threat, countering their assumptions with a bold declaration: “They are completely wrong.”

Khamenei emphasized that Assad’s fall on December 8, as rebel forces surged into Damascus, would not diminish Iran’s strength. While Iran has distanced itself from the ousted leader, it continues to highlight the long-standing bond between the two nations.

In a defiant statement, Khamenei declared that while Israel may hope to dismantle Hezbollah by using Syria, it would ultimately be Israel, not the resistance, that faces defeat. The message resonated as a steadfast reminder that Iran’s commitment to its allies remains resolute, and its strategic goals are unwavering.
