Trump claims Iran deal imminent in Islamabad

Donald Trump has said a potential agreement between the United States and Iran could be signed “today” during talks in Islamabad, though the exact timing of his remarks remains unclear.

Speaking to Fox News journalist Maria Bartiromo, Trump also issued a stark warning, stating that failure to secure a deal would result in the destruction of key Iranian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges.

Tehran has yet to confirm any such agreement or announce plans to send an official delegation to Pakistan. However, sources cited by New York Post indicated that Iran may be open to a second round of negotiations, although no final decision has been made.

Trump previously announced that senior US officials, including Vice President JD Vance, along with envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, would travel to Islamabad to participate in renewed diplomatic efforts.

Pakistan recently hosted initial high-level discussions between Washington and Tehran on April 11 and 12. The talks marked the first direct engagement between the two countries since diplomatic ties were severed following the Iranian Revolution. Despite the historic meeting, negotiations concluded without a breakthrough.
