Russia and Iran Deepen Strategic Cooperation During Moscow Consultations
Senior officials from the foreign ministries of Russia and Iran concluded two days of high-level consultations in Moscow, focusing on expanding bilateral cooperation and reviewing key regional and international developments.
The meetings, held on July 21–22, brought together Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Mojtaba Moradi, Director General for Eurasia, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, along with officials from several regional departments of Russia’s Foreign Ministry.
According to Russia’s Foreign Ministry, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation under the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, emphasizing continued collaboration across political, economic, and security sectors.
The discussions also covered the evolving situations in the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and Ukraine, reflecting the growing importance of regional stability in both countries’ foreign policy agendas. While officials did not disclose specific details of the talks, the consultations underscored the strategic partnership between Moscow and Tehran.
The diplomatic meetings took place amid heightened geopolitical tensions following recent military confrontations involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, as well as ongoing international efforts to reduce regional instability.
The consultations also coincide with an active period of Russian diplomacy. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to meet U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss bilateral relations and broader international security issues, highlighting Moscow’s continued engagement on multiple diplomatic fronts.
