Israel Eases Gaza Blockade, Allows Limited Food Aid Amid Famine Fears
After 10 weeks of a complete blockade, Israel announced it will allow a limited quantity of food into Gaza, responding to growing international pressure and warnings of an imminent humanitarian disaster.
The move comes as Israel intensifies its military campaign, launching a new offensive—Operation Gideon’s Chariot—involving widespread ground operations across the Gaza Strip.
Since the start of the blockade, Israel had halted all deliveries of food, fuel, and medical supplies. Humanitarian organizations have sounded the alarm over worsening conditions, reporting widespread hunger and alarming cases of child malnutrition among Gaza’s 2.1 million residents.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed the decision to permit basic food shipments, stating the measure is aimed at preventing a starvation crisis that could hinder ongoing military objectives. However, officials stressed that aid distribution would be closely monitored to prevent it from reaching Hamas militants.
