Thailand estimates the initial cost of evacuation and property damage from the recent five-day border conflict with Cambodia at more than 10 billion baht ($307.88 million). The Finance Minister has also warned that the total economic impact will likely increase as further assessments are made.
The conflict, which began in late April, led to military clashes and forced thousands of civilians to flee from the border area. As the situation develops, Thai officials are focusing on the broader economic effects, which will likely extend across sectors such as agriculture, trade, and infrastructure.
Initial Economic Impact and Government Response

“At this stage, the cost of evacuation and property damage is already over 10 billion baht,” the Finance Minister said. “We expect the total number to increase as more data comes in. Our priority is to assist the affected communities and businesses during this recovery phase.”
In response, the Thai government has announced several relief measures. These measures include financial aid for evacuated families, compensation for damaged properties, and low-interest loans for businesses in the affected areas.
