Erdogan Says Gaza Meeting with Trump “Very Productive”
NEW YORK / ISTANBUL – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his talks on Gaza with US President Donald Trump and other regional leaders were “very productive and positive.” He expressed hope that the outcome will bring benefits.
Erdogan spoke to reporters on Tuesday outside the Turkevi Center in New York. “We have just concluded a very, very productive and positive meeting. I am satisfied. May the outcome be beneficial,” he said.
Talks on Gaza at the UN
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly at UN headquarters. Leaders discussed the Gaza crisis and possible steps to ease the suffering of civilians.
Joint Declaration on the Way
When asked if the talks could lead to real progress, Erdogan confirmed that a joint declaration will be released soon.
“The final declaration will likely be announced shortly. With statements from President Trump and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, the results of tonight’s meeting will be clear,” he said.
