Hakan Fidan Expands Asia Pacific Diplomacy Singapore Visit

Foreign Minister Outlines Global Vision Strategic Partnerships Asia Pacific

Hakan Fidan said he held high-level talks in Singapore as the first stop of his Asia-Pacific diplomatic tour, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

During meetings with Singaporean leaders, including Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, and Interior Minister Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam, both sides reviewed practical steps to deepen collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, defense industry, security, digital transformation, and connectivity.

Fidan noted that the discussions also covered major regional and global developments, including dynamics in the Asia-Pacific and ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Both sides emphasized the importance of resolving international crises through dialogue and diplomatic engagement.

He also participated in an event hosted by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), where he presented Türkiye’s foreign policy vision and highlighted the role of diplomacy in managing global uncertainty.

Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Singapore, describing it as a strategically important partner in its region and beyond, and pledged continued engagement on international platforms.
