Palestine Calls for International Action to Stop West Bank Attacks

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has called on the international community and the United States to take immediate action to stop escalating Israeli attacks in the occupied West Bank, warning that they are contributing to efforts to annex the territory.

In a statement, the ministry accused Israeli settlers of being used to advance policies aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians and creating conditions for the annexation of the West Bank. It urged the international community to hold those responsible for the attacks accountable.

The statement came as Israeli settlers reportedly continued for a fourth consecutive day to surround three Palestinian homes in the town of Qusra. One of the targeted families includes members who hold US citizenship. Tents were reportedly placed near the homes, restricting access, while Israeli forces remained deployed in and around the area.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry accused Israeli authorities of providing protection to settlers and allowing attacks against Palestinians and their property to continue without accountability. It described the situation as an entrenched system of impunity.

The ministry also called for sanctions against settlers and organizations that support or protect them, saying stronger international action was necessary to safeguard Palestinians and prevent further forced displacement.

Tensions and settler attacks in the West Bank have increased significantly since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023. According to UN figures cited in the report, about 750,000 Israeli settlers live across 156 settlements and 360 outposts in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The United Nations considers Israeli settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territories illegal under international law.
