Unitree Robot Claims Record Breaking Running and Jumping Performance

China’s Unitree Showcases Humanoid Robot With Superhuman Speed

Chinese robotics manufacturer Unitree Robotics has introduced a new humanoid robot prototype called “Superman,” claiming that it has achieved running and jumping performances that exceed some human records.

According to the company, the robot reached a maximum speed of 12.66 meters per second, equivalent to about 45.6 kilometers per hour or 28.3 miles per hour. Unitree also said the machine can perform a standing vertical jump of 2 meters and has legs approximately 0.85 meters long.

The company stated that the prototype was developed in slightly more than three months and suggested that its capabilities could improve further as development continues.

The demonstration highlights the growing competition among Chinese robotics companies to create humanoid machines capable of performing increasingly rapid and sophisticated movements.

Earlier this month, Unitree announced that it had manufactured around 18,000 bipedal humanoid robots. Established in Hangzhou in 2016, the company has become a prominent global producer of autonomous quadrupedal and humanoid robots.

The launch of the new prototype comes just before Unitree’s planned initial public offering on the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s technology-focused STAR Market.
