British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and French President Emmanuel Macron held talks on Thursday about plans to establish assembly facilities in Ukraine for SCALP long-range missiles using British technology.
During their meeting at Downing Street, the two leaders also reviewed the recent Coalition of the Willing meeting in Kyiv and discussed several issues affecting both countries.
Migration was another key topic. Burnham said cooperation between Britain and France was helping reduce small boat crossings, while both leaders emphasized the need to expand these efforts across Europe to discourage irregular migration.
They also discussed strengthening UK relations with European countries and concerns that the proposed “Made in Europe” policy could negatively affect British industries.
Regarding the Middle East, Burnham and Macron called for efforts to reduce tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. Burnham also criticized Israel’s latest settlement plans in the E1 area, describing them as unacceptable and warning that they could damage prospects for a two-state solution.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation on issues of mutual concern.
