China has reaffirmed its position on national sovereignty and opposition to foreign interference while criticizing the formation of regional “small circles and blocs” in the Asia-Pacific region.
During a press briefing in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized that China supports respect for territorial integrity, adherence to international law, and the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter. She stated that Beijing opposes threats, coercion, and external involvement in the domestic affairs of sovereign nations.
Addressing relations with Cuba, Mao reiterated China’s support for Havana’s sovereignty, security, and developmental interests, signaling continued diplomatic solidarity between the two countries.
On regional maritime tensions, Mao described conditions in the East China Sea and the South China Sea as generally stable, insisting that navigation and overflight activities remain unrestricted. She urged outside countries to avoid interference and instead contribute toward maintaining regional peace and stability.
The spokesperson also criticized the emergence of strategic alliances and exclusive geopolitical groupings in the Asia-Pacific, arguing that bloc politics fail to gain broad international support and risk undermining regional harmony.
In addition to foreign policy issues, Mao highlighted progress in China’s space ambitions following the successful completion of the Shenzhou-23 mission. The flight included the first astronaut from Hong Kong to enter the Tiangong Space Station as a payload specialist.
Chinese officials described the mission as a historic achievement for the country’s manned space program and a symbol of national unity under the “one country, two systems” framework. Beijing said the milestone could inspire younger generations to pursue careers in science, technology, and innovation.
The remarks reflect China’s broader effort to reinforce its geopolitical messaging while promoting scientific advancement and national integration on the global stage.
