Canada has reportedly revoked the travel authorization of Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Arieh King over his involvement in settlement activities in occupied East Jerusalem, according to Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
King is known for supporting the takeover of Palestinian homes in the area and for campaigning against UNRWA, the UN agency assisting Palestinian refugees. He was reportedly planning to travel to Canada for a fundraising event linked to his settlement activities.
King claimed the decision resulted from a campaign against him by Arabs, pointing to his opposition to UNRWA and his support for Jewish settlements in occupied East Jerusalem.
The reported cancellation comes amid increasing international criticism of Israel’s policies toward Palestinians in the occupied territories, including the Gaza conflict. King has repeatedly advocated the removal of UNRWA facilities and supported Israeli control over Palestinian properties.
The Canadian government has not officially confirmed or commented on the reported cancellation. The West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has been under Israeli occupation since 1967, while most of the international community considers Israeli settlements in the occupied territories illegal under international law.
