Pakistan condemns Israeli strike at UNHCR

OIC and Global Community Condemn Israeli Strike on Qatar

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned Israel’s strike on Qatar on September 9. The group said the attack violated international law and the UN Charter. It called the strike a dangerous escalation that threatens sovereignty, human rights, and stability in the region.

The OIC declared full support for Qatar and backed all steps it may take to defend its security.

During an urgent debate at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Pakistan’s UN envoy Bilal Ahmad spoke on behalf of the OIC. He described the assault as “unjustifiable and unprovoked.” He warned that the attack undermines Qatar’s mediation role in the Palestinian crisis. Ahmad urged the world to hold Israel accountable for repeated violations of international law.

UN rights chief Volker Türk also denounced the strike. He called it “a shocking breach of international law” and “an assault on peace and stability.”

Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, labeled the strike “treacherous.” She demanded action to stop Israel’s impunity and said the attack was aimed at obstructing Qatar’s diplomacy.

Many countries joined in the criticism. The EU voiced support for Qatar’s sovereignty. China accused Israel of trying to derail peace efforts. South Africa said the strike showed Israel wants to prolong what it called a “genocidal war” in Gaza.

Israel and the US did not attend the debate. From the sidelines, Israel’s envoy dismissed the session as propaganda, but his remarks found little backing.

The debate highlighted growing global frustration with Israel’s actions and stronger calls for accountability.
