Masked Group Vandalizes Town Hall in Southern France

Attack Occurs Ahead of New Municipal Leadership Installation

Istanbul — A group of masked individuals attacked and vandalized a town hall in southern France on Friday evening, causing significant damage to public property.

Authorities reported that around 20 people broke into the town hall in Fresnes, located in the Val-de-Marne department. According to officials, the group forced entry after targeting the building’s exterior.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez confirmed the incident and described it as a serious attack on state institutions. He added that security forces are working actively to identify and arrest those responsible.

Violent Entry and Property Damage

According to police sources cited by Le Figaro, the attackers first launched mortar fireworks at the front of the building. They then broke down the main door and entered the premises.

Once inside, the group damaged several rooms and destroyed furniture. After leaving the site, they continued their actions by vandalizing a nearby driving school and a bank.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have opened an investigation into damage to public property. However, police have not made any arrests so far.

Political Context Behind the Incident

The attack took place just one day before the installation of a new municipal team from Les Republicains, a center-right party. The party recently won local elections, replacing the previous left-wing administration.
