President Isaac Herzog expressed deep sorrow for the Neutra family following confirmation of the death of Captain Omer Maxim Neutra, who fell in action on October 7 and whose body was taken to Gaza by terrorists.
Born and raised in the United States, Omer made Aliyah to Israel, joining the IDF to protect the nation. After participating in the Garin Tzabar program, he served as a dedicated tank platoon commander.
President Herzog praised the resilience of Omer’s parents, Ronen and Orna, and his brother, Daniel, who have tirelessly sought his return. He extended his condolences and support to them and all families enduring the agony of hostage situations.
Herzog reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to bringing back all abducted individuals—both the living and those who have fallen—so they may return to their families or be laid to rest with dignity.
