Hindu fanatics attack mosque in New Delhi

The death toll in India rose to 20 due to Delhi’s worst religious aggression, while Indian police are alleged to look at other ways when the Muslims were targeted along with their properties.
A mosque was set on fire by Hindu mob, while several Muslim majority areas in Delhi were attacked following three days of violence. The attack was in response to the sit-ins opposing the new citizenship law.
The Hindu mob was shouting “Jai Shri ram”, meaning, “hail lord ram” while they launched an assail on the Muslims and burned their mosque in Ashok Nagar.
The assailants attacked the mosque by climbing on the top of the mosque’s minaret and they went to fix a saffron flag.
The shops surrounding the area were also attacked in mob violence, local media reports.
Police enforced a check on large gatherings in Delhi due to reports of stone-pelting and more buildings set aflame.
Sunil Kumar, the medical director of the hospital where the injured were admitted said about 20 people were died, with 31 people injured in the religious violence, while addressing the reporters in Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
Among the 30 injured persons, 10 were in critical condition.
A student from the riot-hit region, Saurabh Sharma told: “Since yesterday, we’ve been calling the police to enforce a curfew, to send reinforcements”.
According to Anil Mittal, a senior police official, more than 150 people were injured in the riots that started as the US president arrived in India on a two-day visit.
The additional medical superintendent at the Guru Teg Bahadur hospital Rajesh Kalra said: “Some of the people brought in had gunshot wounds”.
Assail was reported in Muslim majority areas including Karawal Nagar, Maujpur, Bhajanpur, Vijay park, and Yamuna vihar, as stones were thrown in nearby locations like major.
Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the citizens to maintain peace and decorum after an urgent summit of his newly elected representatives in the region.
Kejriwal stated that his newly elected legislators are of the view that there is a “severe shortage” of the police force in the affected areas.
The unrest started when the supporters of the citizenship act assailed the Muslims and their buildings. The citizenship amendment act elicited nationwide riots, particularly by the Muslims.
The violence commenced ahead of a warning by the BJP Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kapil Mishra to CAA activists to end their non-violent protest rally in Jafrabad and maujpur.
To disperse the Hindu mob, police used grenades and teargas.
A tire market went up on flames, said the press trust of India.
Some vehicles were in flames in major and Jafrabad while police imposed restrictions on such gatherings.
The additional police force is deployed in the Muslim majority areas of northeast Delhi, said the Delhi police officer Mittal. One police constable was among the people killed in riots.
Amid high tensions in the regions, schools remained closed; almost five metro stations were shut off.
Mobs attacked several journalists covering the event.
The senior journalist Nidhi Razdan said in a twitter post “Two of my colleagues Arvind Gunasekar and Saurabh Shukla were badly beaten by a mob just now in Delhi, they only stopped beating them after realizing they are ‘our people- Hindus’. Absolutely despicable”.–Worldwide News
