Houthis Pledge Defense After US Yemen Strikes

Yemen Crisis Deepens as Houthis Vow Resistance After US Strikes

Houthi spokesperson Mohammed Abdulsalam vowed Yemen’s unwavering defense following a series of US strikes on the capital, Sanaa, earlier this week.

The US military confirmed targeting Houthi facilities on Monday and Tuesday, including command centers and sites used for advanced weapons like missiles and drones. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), these operations involved Navy ships and Air Force aircraft striking strategic coastal and inland areas.

The strikes reportedly neutralized seven cruise missiles and unmanned drones over the Red Sea, ensuring no casualties or damage to US personnel or equipment. Yemeni witnesses recounted the heavy bombardment, noting explosions near the Defense Ministry in Sanaa.

The Houthis condemned the attacks as blatant violations of Yemen’s sovereignty, framing them as direct support for Israel. Hours earlier, the Houthis claimed responsibility for launching two missiles intercepted by Israeli defense systems, signaling their continued solidarity with Palestinians amid the Gaza conflict.

For over a year, Houthi forces have disrupted Red Sea shipping routes in an effort to enforce a naval blockade against Israel, further escalating tensions in the war-torn region. Their actions align with their stated commitment to supporting Palestinians in the protracted Israel-Hamas conflict.

As Yemen remains gripped by war, these developments amplify the challenges of navigating its complex geopolitical entanglements.
