Indonesia Seeks Russian Petroleum Supply Deal

Indonesia Requests Russian Petroleum Supplies as Energy Talks Expand

Energy Cooperation Strengthens Between Moscow and Jakarta

Indonesia has requested petroleum supplies from Russia, according to Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev.

He said Russia continues to position itself as a stable and reliable energy supplier in the global market.

Shift in Energy Supply Strategy

Tsivilev explained that Indonesia previously relied mainly on suppliers such as the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia.

However, he noted that Jakarta is now reassessing its supply strategy due to growing concerns over energy security and transport stability in key shipping routes.

He added that both countries are working on a long-term contract designed to ensure stable supply at mutually agreed prices.

Talks Following Presidential Meeting

The statement followed a recent meeting between Vladimir Putin and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Moscow.

During the talks, both leaders discussed expanding cooperation in energy, agriculture, and industry.

They also highlighted the importance of strengthening cultural, educational, and humanitarian ties between the two countries.

Plans to Expand Bilateral Cooperation

Russian officials said both sides aim to increase collaboration in key sectors, including economics, space technology, and pharmaceuticals.

President Putin expressed hope that the visit would help boost bilateral trade further.

Meanwhile, President Subianto emphasized the need for ongoing dialogue and stronger economic and energy cooperation to address future global challenges.
