Israel Vows Full Control of Gaza as WHO Warns of Starvation Crisis

WHO: Two Million in Gaza Facing Starvation Amid Israeli Offensive

Israel Expands Gaza Offensive as WHO Warns of Worsening Humanitarian Crisis

Gaza City – May 20, 2025
Israel announced plans to take full control of the Gaza Strip as its military campaign intensifies, with more than 50 people reported killed in recent airstrikes. The statement comes amid mounting international concern over a worsening humanitarian emergency in the densely populated territory.

After over two months of total blockade, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a stark warning, stating that two million people in Gaza are at risk of starvation due to severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.

In response to growing pressure, Israel confirmed it will allow a limited delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza. According to Israeli officials, the first convoy of trucks—reportedly carrying baby food—was scheduled to enter the enclave on Monday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cited “practical and diplomatic reasons” for partially resuming aid access. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also acknowledged communication from Israeli authorities regarding the aid deliveries.

The international community continues to call for broader humanitarian access and a sustainable ceasefire to prevent further civilian casualties and suffering.
