Israeli Airstrikes Kill Civilians Across Southern Lebanon

Lebanon reported fresh casualties on Thursday after new Israeli airstrikes hit the southern Nabatieh region despite an active ceasefire agreement, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.

The agency said two people were killed at dawn when an Israeli strike targeted a pickup truck on the Habboush road near the vehicle registration office in the Nabatieh district. In a separate incident, another person died after an Israeli drone attack struck a truck transporting vehicles near the Safa station along the Mifdoun road.

Heavy artillery shelling was also reported around 7:30 a.m. local time, with the towns of Habboush, Deir al-Zahrani, and Kfour coming under intense bombardment. Earlier in the morning, Israeli warplanes carried out another air raid on the town of Kfarrumman, the agency added.

The attacks come despite a ceasefire announced on April 17 and later extended until May 17. Israeli military operations, including air raids and demolitions in southern Lebanese villages, have continued on a near-daily basis.

Since March 2, ongoing Israeli military actions in Lebanon have reportedly killed at least 2,715 people, injured more than 8,300 others, and displaced over 1.6 million residents, according to official Lebanese figures.

Israel continues to maintain control over several areas in southern Lebanon, including territories occupied for decades as well as zones captured during the 2023–2024 conflict. Israeli forces have also advanced roughly 10 kilometers into border regions during the current escalation.
