Israeli Airstrikes Damage Hospital In Southern Lebanon

A series of Israeli airstrikes early Saturday caused significant damage to a hospital and surrounding infrastructure in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, according to Lebanon’s state news agency National News Agency Lebanon.

The report said the Hiram Hospital sustained extensive destruction, including damage to operating theatres, patient rooms, clinics, nursing quarters, and electrical systems. Windows and internal facilities were also severely affected, disrupting medical services.

Nearby buildings were also struck, with at least one structure completely destroyed. The attacks additionally damaged residential homes and public infrastructure, including water and electricity networks as well as internal road systems in several neighbourhoods.

Emergency response teams, including ambulances and civil defence units, were deployed to assess the extent of the destruction and assist those affected.

Separate strikes were also reported on the town of Yohmor al-Shaqif, further widening the impact of the aerial campaign in southern Lebanon.

According to Lebanese officials, more than 3,000 people have been killed and around 1.6 million displaced since the escalation of Israeli military operations began on March 2, following retaliatory actions linked to the broader regional conflict involving Iran.

Officials say the strikes have continued despite a US mediated ceasefire agreement that remains formally in place, although violations have been reported intermittently.
