Militia Leader Dies Amid Local Dispute

Yasser Abu Shabab, a leading Palestinian militia commander in Gaza who opposed Hamas, has been killed. He led the Popular Forces group, which includes several dozen fighters operating near the southern city of Rafah in Israeli-controlled areas.

The Popular Forces stated that Abu Shabab was shot while trying to settle a dispute between members of the Abu Seneima family. The group also rejected claims that Hamas was responsible, calling such reports “misleading.” Hamas had previously accused him of collaborating with Israel.

Tribal Response and Accusations

Abu Shabab’s Bedouin tribe, the Tarabin, said he was killed “at the hands of the resistance.” The tribe accused him of betraying the Palestinian people, highlighting divisions within Gaza between different armed groups.

This incident underscores the ongoing internal tensions in Gaza, where rival factions and local disputes continue to affect security and political stability.
