Netanyahu Pays Condolence Visit to Bereaved Druze Families

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the home of Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, the Druze community house in Julis, to pay his respects to the bereaved Druze families from the Swords of Iron war. The Prime Minister expressed his deep condolences and solidarity with the families’ profound loss.

Mona, the widow of Lt.-Col. Alim Abdallah, shared with the Prime Minister that she recently discovered gifts her husband had prepared for his soldiers, including a Land of Israel medallion inscribed with ‘I have no other country.’ She emphasized the sacrifices made and the importance of ensuring that the soldiers’ sacrifices are not in vain.

Prime Minister Netanyahu, speaking both as a leader and a fellow citizen, highlighted the strong bonds of shared struggle and life between the Jewish and Druze communities. He acknowledged the necessity of fighting for survival and the heroic sacrifices made by soldiers from all backgrounds, including Jews, Druze, Circassians, Christians, Bedouin, and Muslims.

Netanyahu paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, praising their heroism and leadership, and extended his heartfelt condolences to their families. He expressed hope for a future without sorrow, underscoring the profound connection and mutual support between the communities.

Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif emphasized the enduring bond between the Druze community and the Jewish people in Israel, built on shared values and a common vision. He honored the fallen Druze fighters, acknowledging their bravery and the principles that guided them. He also paid tribute to the wounded soldiers and those who continue to serve, reinforcing the importance of their sacrifices for the nation’s security.

The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including former Minister Salah Tarif, former Deputy Minister Fatin Mula, former MK Amal Nasr Al-Din, Druze Council Director General Raid Sinan, Yad LeBanim Chairman Ramzi Halaby, and others. The Prime Minister was accompanied by his Chief-of-Staff Tzachi Braverman, Prime Minister’s Office Director General Yossi Shelley, and his Military Secretary, Maj.-Gen. Roman Gofman.–News Desk
