Netanyahu, US Envoys Focus on Regional Security Amid Rising Tensions

JERUSALEM—Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened with U.S. Special Envoys Amos Hochstein and Brett McGurk in Jerusalem on October 31, 2024, to discuss Israel’s security concerns and strategic stability in the region. In his opening remarks, Netanyahu expressed gratitude to the U.S. for its continued support, emphasizing that Israel’s primary objective is not just securing agreements but ensuring Israel’s unwavering ability to counter any threats emerging from Lebanon. Netanyahu stated, “Our focus is on Israel’s ability and determination to enforce any agreement and eliminate threats to our security, enabling our residents to return safely to their homes.”

Following the Prime Minister’s meeting, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer also engaged with U.S. officials, including Middle East Coordinator Brett McGurk, Special Advisor Amos Hochstein, and Ambassador Jack Lew. The meeting included Israel’s Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Herzog and key defense advisors, highlighting the importance of cooperation on pressing security matters along Israel’s northern borders and broader regional threats.

The discussions centered on enhancing strategic partnerships to address security challenges from Lebanon and coordinated efforts to secure the release of 101 hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza.–News Desk
