Pakistan, China Propose Alternative Regional Bloc to Replace SAARC
In a recent development, Pakistan and China have shown mutual interest in forming a new regional alliance to potentially replace the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). According to diplomatic sources, both nations agree that the current framework of SAARC has become ineffective, and there is an urgent need for a new organisation better suited to address the present-day challenges of the region.
Officials from both countries believe that a more inclusive and dynamic bloc could enhance regional cooperation, economic integration, and political dialogue among South and Central Asian nations. The proposed alternative would aim to foster peace, development, and mutual understanding in contrast to the stagnant progress seen within SAARC in recent years.
While discussions are still at an early stage, the idea has gained traction in light of growing regional tensions and the perceived inability of SAARC to deliver meaningful outcomes. The initiative, if realised, could significantly shift the geopolitical landscape of Asia.
