US Approves Possible Torpedo Sale to Norway
WASHINGTON – The US State Department has approved a possible sale of lightweight torpedoes and related gear to Norway, the Pentagon said Wednesday.
Deal Worth $162 Million
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the deal could cost $162.1 million. It explained that the sale would help Norway handle current and future threats.
Boost for NATO Allies
Officials noted the agreement will also strengthen Norway’s cooperation with the US and other NATO members. The Pentagon said such steps improve defense ties across the alliance.
Contractor and Congress Approval
RTX Corporation, based in Arlington, Virginia, will act as the main contractor. The agency confirmed it has already notified Congress of the possible sale.
