PM Shahbaz Orders FIA Action Over Greek Boat Tragedy

PM Shehbaz Orders Swift Action Against FIA Officials Over Greek Boat Tragedy

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has demanded immediate accountability for Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials linked to human traffickers, following the tragic boat disaster off Greece in which at least five Pakistanis lost their lives.

During a crucial meeting on Friday, the Prime Minister expressed concern over the growing issue of human trafficking and the delay in addressing the negligence surrounding the boat incident. He called for urgent action to prevent such tragedies and preserve Pakistan’s international reputation.

“The failure to act swiftly after last year’s tragedy is alarming,” PM Shehbaz stated, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the case.

The Pakistan mission in Greece confirmed that five nationals were killed in the boat disaster near Gavdos Island, though the number of missing persons remains unclear.

In response, the FIA launched a crackdown on human traffickers, registering cases against three suspects and arresting two of its own officers, Zubair Ashraf and Shahid Imran, for failing to properly screen passengers at Faisalabad Airport.

With the government taking decisive action, PM Shehbaz has stressed that no stone will be left unturned in tackling this growing menace.
