PM Shehbaz urges Turkish firms to invest in Pakistan

Premier thanks Turkish leadership for support during India tensions

ISLAMABAD, July 10:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited Turkish companies to expand investments in Pakistan, particularly in areas of structural reforms, economic growth, and development. The call was made during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defence Minister Yasar Güler in Islamabad.

PM Shehbaz emphasized the need to boost bilateral trade to the agreed $5 billion target and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deeper cooperation with Turkiye in trade, investment, defence, and technology.

Highlighting historical and cultural ties, the premier expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in Pak-Turkiye relations and reaffirmed plans to elevate the relationship to a strategic partnership. He welcomed the upcoming joint commission meeting, co-chaired by Deputy PM Ishaq Dar and Turkish FM Fidan, aiming to fast-track collaboration across sectors.

Sharif also stressed the importance of regional coordination amid crises in Gaza and Iran and thanked Turkiye for its steadfast support during recent tensions with India.

Earlier, Dar and Fidan reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepen cooperation under the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, including work by 12 joint standing committees and the formation of a monitoring commission.
