RIYADH — Senior military officials from Saudi Arabia and the United States met on Wednesday to discuss strengthening bilateral defense cooperation amid rising security challenges across the Middle East.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Saudi Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Fayyadh Al-Ruwaili held talks with Lt. Gen. Patrick Frank, Deputy Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), focusing on expanding military collaboration and enhancing coordination between the two countries.
The ministry said the discussions explored ways to develop cooperation in military affairs in support of shared strategic interests, though it did not disclose additional details about the agenda or any agreements reached during the meeting.
The high-level talks come as regional tensions continue to intensify. The United States and Iran have exchanged military strikes in and around the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns over maritime security and regional stability.
At the same time, hostilities have escalated in Yemen, where renewed fighting between government forces and Houthi fighters has reportedly spilled across borders, with attacks targeting Saudi territory after years of relative calm.
The meeting underscores the longstanding defense partnership between Riyadh and Washington as both countries seek to coordinate responses to evolving security threats in the region.
