Slovenia’s newly formed government has lifted entry bans on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and two cabinet ministers, reversing measures that were introduced by the previous administration in response to Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
According to the Slovenian Press Agency (STA), the decision was taken during a cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Janez Janša. The meeting also resulted in the cancellation of several other restrictions previously imposed on Israel.
The former government, headed by Robert Golob, had implemented a series of punitive policies, including bans on arms trade with Israel and calls for coordinated sanctions at the European Union level. These measures were part of a broader diplomatic response to the Gaza conflict.
In addition to lifting the entry bans, the new cabinet removed restrictions related to military cooperation and other Gaza-linked policies introduced under the previous leadership.
The policy shift indicates a significant change in Slovenia’s foreign policy direction under the current government. However, officials have not yet provided a detailed public explanation for the reversal.
