At least six people were killed and seven others injured following an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the southern Lebanese town of Kfar Dounine, according to Lebanon’s state media.
The National News Agency reported that those wounded were transported to hospitals in the coastal city of Tyre for treatment. In addition to the strike on the house, Israeli artillery also targeted areas on the outskirts of Mansouri and Majdal Zoun at dawn.
The attack comes amid continuing cross-border violence between Israel and Hezbollah despite a ceasefire agreement announced on April 17, which has been extended until May 17.
Lebanese authorities say the ongoing conflict has resulted in more than 2,840 deaths and 8,690 injuries since March 2, while displacing over 1.6 million people, roughly one-fifth of the country’s population.
Israeli forces have continued near-daily strikes in southern Lebanon, intensifying concerns over the stability of the already fragile ceasefire arrangement.
