Residents of the Palestinian village of Umm Safa in the occupied West Bank were left without running water after the community’s sole water supply line was reportedly destroyed during settlement-related construction activities.
According to local sources, heavy machinery damaged the main pipeline serving the village while work was underway on a new settlement road near the area northwest of Ramallah. The destruction severed the village’s only source of water, creating significant hardship for local residents.
Umm Safa has experienced increasing pressure from nearby settlement outposts in recent years, with residents reporting repeated restrictions on access to agricultural land and farming activities.
The incident comes amid a broader rise in attacks targeting Palestinian farmland across the occupied West Bank. Reports indicate that agricultural areas have faced bulldozing, property damage, arson incidents, and growing limitations on land access, particularly in areas adjacent to settlements.
Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that the government plans to allocate additional funding to the Hilltop Youth group, whose members are primarily based in settlement outposts. The organization has been linked to repeated confrontations involving Palestinians and is often associated with the extremist “Price Tag” movement.
According to Palestinian figures, violence and military operations in the occupied West Bank have resulted in significant casualties, arrests, and displacement since October 2023, further intensifying humanitarian and security concerns across the territory.
