On September 5, 2024, naval forces from 24 nations transited the Pacific Ocean as part of UNITAS LXV, the world’s longest-running multinational maritime exercise. Hosted by the Chilean navy, this year’s exercise involves 17 ships, two submarines, 20 aircraft, and over 4,300 personnel.
UNITAS aims to strengthen cooperation, readiness, and interoperability among partner nations to promote regional stability and enhance the collective maritime defense capabilities of the participating forces. The exercise includes a series of complex naval operations, including anti-submarine warfare, air defense, amphibious assaults, and humanitarian assistance drills.
