Xi Urges Respect for Sovereignty Amid Rising Middle East Tensions
China Calls for Stability and Security
Xi Jinping called for full respect for sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity in the Middle East during growing tensions linked to the US-Iran conflict.
He stressed that all countries in the region must protect people, institutions, and national interests to maintain stability.
Remarks During High-Level Meeting
Xi made these comments while meeting Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Beijing.
This statement marks his first public response since the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28.
Proposal for Regional Peace Framework
During the meeting, Xi proposed a broader plan to improve regional security. He encouraged countries to follow peaceful coexistence, respect sovereignty, and uphold international law.
In addition, he highlighted the need to balance economic development with security efforts and called for stronger regional cooperation.
Visit Amid Ongoing Ceasefire
The Crown Prince arrived in China on Sunday for a three-day visit. His trip takes place during a sensitive period, as tensions remain high despite a two-week ceasefire that began on April 8.
Growing China UAE Economic Ties
At the same time, economic relations between China and the United Arab Emirates continue to expand. Trade between the two countries reached nearly $77 billion between January and September 2025.
