Zelenskyy Honors UAE Minister for Supporting Ukraine and Promoting Peace
ISTANBUL — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday honored Reem Al Hashimy, the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of State for International Cooperation, for her continued support to Ukraine during the ongoing war.
He presented her with the Order of Princess Olga, First Class in recognition of her outstanding contribution to humanitarian relief and cooperation between the two nations. Moreover, the award highlights the UAE’s role in supporting civilians affected by the conflict.
During the ceremony, Zelenskyy emphasized that the UAE has played a vital role in securing the release of Ukrainians held by Russia. In addition, the Gulf nation has provided consistent humanitarian aid to families and children suffering from the war.
“We are grateful to every country that truly stands with our people,” Zelenskyy said on Telegram. “The UAE has repeatedly acted as a mediator, helping to bring back our citizens from Russian captivity. Furthermore, we appreciate their humanitarian initiatives and ongoing cooperation.”
Meanwhile, Reem Al Hashimy led a UAE delegation on a visit to Ukraine, reinforcing her country’s commitment to peace and humanitarian action. She also discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in future reconstruction efforts.
During the nearly four-year conflict, the UAE has helped organize several prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine. As a result, many Ukrainian families have been reunited with their loved ones. Additionally, the Emirates has sent large amounts of aid to war-affected areas, including medical supplies, food, and shelter equipment.
Therefore, Ukraine considers the UAE a key partner in its ongoing humanitarian and diplomatic efforts. Going forward, Zelenskyy said he hopes to strengthen these ties through more joint initiatives and mutual cooperation.
