Chicago Police Investigate Fatal Collision Involving 75-Year-Old Man

CHICAGO — A 75-year-old man died Tuesday night after being hit by a vehicle in the Chicago Lawn area, according to city police.

The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of South Western Avenue, where a vehicle traveling north struck the elderly pedestrian. He sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities confirmed.

The driver, a 29-year-old woman, continued driving after the collision but was apprehended shortly afterward. She was taken into police custody for questioning.

The Major Accident Investigation Unit is currently handling the case, and charges against the driver are pending as the investigation continues.
