Justice Department Files Reference Gates, Musk, Trump in Epstein Records
WASHINGTON | Feb 01, 2026
The US Justice Department has released more than three million documents linked to its investigation into the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Among the records are draft emails containing unverified allegations involving Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and references to former President Donald Trump.
Unverified Emails Mention Bill Gates
Several draft emails, written by Epstein in July 2013, include claims involving Bill Gates. In one message addressed to “Bill,” Epstein alleged that Gates sought antibiotics after fearing he had contracted a sexually transmitted disease during visits to Epstein’s private island, Little Saint James.
According to the email, Epstein claimed Gates wanted the medication provided discreetly and without the knowledge of his then-wife, Melinda Gates. Epstein also wrote that he had been drawn into what he described as morally and ethically inappropriate actions while assisting Gates.
Furthermore, Epstein alleged that he helped arrange illicit meetings and secure prescription drugs, including Adderall, at Gates’ request. However, there is no evidence confirming that these emails were sent or that the events described actually occurred.
In response, a Gates spokesperson strongly rejected the allegations, calling them “absolutely absurd and completely false.” Gates has previously acknowledged meeting Epstein but has said the relationship was a serious personal mistake.
Musk Emails Discuss Possible Island Visit
The newly released files also contain email exchanges between Epstein and Elon Musk from 2012 and 2013. In one message, Epstein asked Musk about transportation to his private island, including helicopter seating arrangements.
Musk replied that he would need space for himself and his then-partner, actress Tallulah Riley. He also asked which day would host the “wildest party” on the island. In another email sent months later, Musk mentioned he would be in the British Virgin Islands and asked whether it would be a good time to visit.
Epstein responded by saying that there was “always space” for Musk. The documents do not confirm whether any visit actually took place.
Trump Also Referenced in Records
In addition to Gates and Musk, the released files include documents that mention US President Donald Trump. However, the records do not provide detailed allegations or further context regarding those references.
Background on the Epstein Files
The Justice Department released the documents as part of ongoing transparency efforts related to federal investigations into Epstein. Epstein died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Authorities have continued to review and release materials connected to his extensive network of contacts.
