Stockholm Warns Citizens Amid Iran Escalation

Sweden Urges Immediate Exit From Iran

Sweden urges citizens to leave Iran amid rising tensions

Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard on Friday urged Swedish citizens to leave Iran, citing growing uncertainty and rising risks in the region.

In a message posted on the US-based social media platform X, Stenergard stressed that the situation in Iran remains highly unpredictable. Therefore, she repeated the Foreign Ministry’s advisory against all travel to the country and called on Swedes currently in Iran to depart as soon as possible.

Exit routes remain open

According to the minister, citizens can still leave Iran through commercial flights and open border crossings. However, she advised them to act quickly while travel options remain available.

Furthermore, Stenergard emphasized that individuals who choose to stay do so at their own risk. She made it clear that the Swedish Foreign Ministry will not be able to carry out evacuation operations from Iran if conditions worsen.

Warning follows US remarks

The advisory came shortly after US President Donald Trump said he was considering a limited military strike to pressure Iran into reaching a deal. Although he did not provide specific details, Washington has recently increased its military presence in the region.

As tensions rise, Sweden has moved to protect its citizens by reinforcing its travel warning and encouraging immediate departure.
