Dutch Prime Minister Visits Kyiv in Second Foreign Trip

ISTANBUL — Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten arrived in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Sunday for only his second foreign visit since taking office in late February.

The visit was confirmed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who shared a photo of the two leaders laying flowers at the Wall of Remembrance of the Fallen for Ukraine.

“We thank each and every one. We remember and honor the feat of our heroes – all those who stood up to defend Ukraine and gave their lives in this fight for independence,” Zelenskyy wrote on social media platform X.

Jetten Highlights Support for Ukraine

On X, Prime Minister Jetten stated that he visited Kyiv to emphasize the Netherlands’ continued support for Ukraine. During the trip, he also toured a neighborhood affected by Russian airstrikes.

No additional details about the visit were released. Jetten became the youngest prime minister in Dutch history after assuming office on February 23, 2026.

Previous Foreign Visit

Last week, Jetten made his first foreign trip to Brussels, meeting with European Council President Antonio Costa and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The meetings focused on European cooperation and security matters amid ongoing conflicts in Ukraine.
