US signals Iran ceasefire deadline to Israel

The United States has informed Israel that the current ceasefire with Iran, recently extended by Washington, is expected to expire on Sunday, according to Israeli media reports.

The Israeli public broadcaster KAN reported that US officials conveyed the timeline to Israeli authorities, indicating that the period set by President Donald Trump for Iran to respond will conclude within days.

Citing diplomatic sources, the report said Trump is seeking a structured understanding with Tehran rather than prolonged negotiations without a clear endpoint. Israeli officials, however, expressed skepticism that any breakthrough will be achieved before the deadline.

Sources in Israel also described growing confusion over Washington’s approach, claiming that key developments have been learned through media coverage and presidential social media statements.

A White House official told Fox News that the ceasefire window could range from three to five days, while Israeli sources said the situation remains uncertain and heavily dependent on US decision-making.

Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire earlier in the week, following a request from Pakistan, stating that it would remain in place until Iran submits what he described as a unified proposal.

Tensions in the region have intensified since joint US and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February, which triggered retaliatory attacks from Tehran targeting Israel and areas hosting US forces.

Pakistan has played a mediating role, hosting talks between Washington and Tehran in mid-April after facilitating an initial ceasefire agreement earlier in the month. Further diplomatic efforts are ongoing, though the prospects for progress remain unclear.
