China Backs Iran Claims Amid US Peace Deal

Iran Gains China Support Before Geneva Accord

China has reiterated its support for Iran’s sovereignty and legitimate interests ahead of the scheduled signing of a landmark peace agreement between Tehran and Washington later this week.

During a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that Beijing continues to stand behind Iran’s reasonable demands and its efforts to protect national sovereignty and security. The remarks signal China’s ongoing diplomatic backing for Tehran at a critical moment in regional politics.

Wang also highlighted the importance of resolving concerns surrounding navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategic maritime routes. He stressed that issues related to the vital waterway should be handled appropriately to ensure stability and safeguard international trade flows.

The Chinese foreign minister further pledged to strengthen communication and coordination with Iran, underscoring Beijing’s commitment to promoting peace and stability across the Middle East.

The development comes ahead of a highly anticipated ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland, where the United States and Iran are expected to formally sign a peace agreement on Friday. The accord follows months of heightened tensions and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing conflict in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz has remained a focal point of international concern since Iran restricted passage through the corridor after the outbreak of hostilities involving the United States and Israel earlier this year. As global attention turns to Geneva, China’s support adds a significant diplomatic dimension to the evolving regional landscape.
