China Sends Second Ebola Medical Team to DR Congo

China Deploys New Medical Team as Ebola Deaths Rise

China Dispatches Second Medical Team to DR Congo Amid Escalating Ebola Outbreak

China has deployed a second team of medical experts to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) as the country’s Ebola outbreak continues to worsen, with the death toll climbing above 400.

Speaking in Beijing on Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the newly deployed team includes specialists in epidemiology, clinical care and health quarantine who will support local efforts to contain the outbreak.

The latest deployment follows the arrival of China’s first medical mission in early June and reflects Beijing’s continued commitment to assisting the Central African nation in its public health response.

According to Guo, the second team will work closely with Congolese authorities and international organizations while expanding scientific and technical cooperation tailored to local needs.

Health officials in DR Congo reported that since the Ebola outbreak was declared on May 15, the country has confirmed 1,406 cases, including 438 deaths, resulting in a fatality rate of 31.2%.

Chinese officials reaffirmed that Beijing will continue providing medical assistance and technical support within its capacity to help African countries contain the outbreak and strengthen disease control efforts.

As health authorities race to curb the spread of the virus, international cooperation remains critical to limiting infections and preventing further loss of life.
