BRUSSELS: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reaffirmed her commitment to maintaining strong ties with US President Donald Trump, saying her engagement is rooted in promoting unity among Western allies rather than personal politics.
Speaking after the NATO Summit in Ankara, Meloni said she had no regrets about her approach, emphasizing that her foreign policy is guided by Italy’s and Europe’s strategic interests. She noted that she shares common views with Trump on issues such as migration and opposition to what she described as “woke culture.”
Her remarks came after recent public exchanges with Trump, who made comments about their relationship on social media. Meloni dismissed the claims and reiterated that her focus remains on strengthening cooperation across the Western alliance.
