US President Donald Trump met with Irish President Catherine Connolly and Prime Minister Micheal Martin on Saturday during his two-day visit to Ireland.
Trump first met Connolly at Áras an Uachtaráin, the Irish president’s official residence in Dublin. He was welcomed with a military ceremony before the two leaders held a private meeting.
After the meeting, reporters asked Trump about the situation in Iran as he headed toward his vehicle. He responded briefly, saying that everything would work out fine.
Trump then traveled to Farmleigh House, where Prime Minister Martin welcomed him for bilateral discussions. The talks were expected to address a range of issues involving US-Irish relations.
Earlier, Trump had been received by senior Irish officials after landing in the country, including Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris, Foreign Minister Helen McEntee and US Ambassador to Ireland Ed Walsh.
During his visit, Trump was also scheduled to attend events at the US ambassador’s residence in Dublin’s Phoenix Park. He was later expected to travel to County Clare to attend the Amgen Irish Open at Trump International Golf Links and Hotel Doonbeg, which he owns.
Trump’s two-day itinerary included engagements in Dublin and Ireland’s western region before his scheduled departure on Sunday.
