Abu Dhabi, UAE — April 23, 2025
Abu Dhabi is set to revolutionize urban transportation with the upcoming launch of its air taxi service by 2026, following official design approval for the UAE’s first hybrid heliport. The state-of-the-art facility will be constructed at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal at Zayed Port and will accommodate both traditional helicopters and next-generation electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
This pioneering development marks a major milestone in the UAE’s push toward advanced air mobility and smart transport solutions. The hybrid heliport, the first in the region, is being realized through a collaboration between AD Ports Group, Falcon Aviation Services, and U.S.-based Archer Aviation, with oversight from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
According to GCAA, the new heliport will act as the central hub for the forthcoming Abu Dhabi Air Taxi network, aimed at delivering fast, eco-friendly connections between major destinations across the city.
Strategically positioned, the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal welcomes more than 650,000 visitors annually and offers direct access to premier cultural attractions such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Saadiyat Cultural District—making it an ideal launch point for the air taxi initiative.
The air mobility program supports the UAE’s broader goals for sustainable infrastructure and smart city development, setting a new benchmark for future-forward transportation in the Gulf region.
