Spain has welcomed the newly announced agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as an important diplomatic development for regional stability and international security.
Spanish Foreign Minister Manuel Albares praised the efforts of mediators involved in the negotiations and emphasized the importance of maintaining secure and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy supplies and international trade.
Albares expressed confidence that continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement can help resolve remaining disputes and preserve the ceasefire. He also highlighted the importance of extending stability to other regional flashpoints, including Lebanon.
The statement followed an announcement by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that Washington and Tehran had reached an agreement after intensive negotiations. According to the announcement, both sides committed to an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.
Spain’s response reflects broader international support for diplomatic solutions and ongoing efforts to reduce tensions across the Middle East through negotiation rather than conflict.
