Bahrain Says It Thwarted Iranian Aerial Assault

Iranian Strikes Hit Bahrain as Air Defenses Respond

MANAMA: Bahrain said its armed forces successfully intercepted and destroyed several Iranian missiles and drones on Sunday, following a wave of aerial attacks that authorities said targeted civilian areas and private property.

In a statement, the Bahraini military accused Iran of carrying out deliberate missile and drone strikes against civilians, describing the attacks as a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

The Bahrain Defence Force said all military branches remain on maximum alert to safeguard the country’s territory and respond to any further threats. Authorities also urged residents to avoid approaching suspicious objects that could be remnants of intercepted missiles or drones.

According to Bahrain’s Interior Ministry, one residential building in the northern Muharraq Governorate sustained damage during the attacks. Officials confirmed that no fatalities or injuries were reported and that emergency teams had secured the affected area.

Earlier in the day, warning sirens sounded across Bahrain after authorities detected the possibility of incoming aerial threats.

The developments came after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had launched missile and drone attacks targeting US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait, describing the operation as retaliation for recent American strikes on Iranian territory.

The latest escalation follows US military operations against Iranian missile, drone and radar sites, which Washington said were conducted after attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
