Musk Boosts Armie Hammer Comeback Film

Elon Musk Shares Armie Hammer’s Controversial Film on X

ISTANBUL: Elon Musk briefly made actor Armie Hammer’s comeback film Citizen Vigilante available to millions of users after sharing it on X, drawing fresh attention to the controversial action thriller.

The movie, directed by German filmmaker Uwe Boll, was released in the United States on June 19. According to reports, the film has been banned in Germany because of its graphic violence and alleged anti-migrant themes.

Musk posted a link to the full film on his X account, where he has more than 240 million followers. The link remained accessible for nearly two days before it was removed.

Citizen Vigilante stars Hammer as Sanders, a man who turns to vigilantism after losing faith in law enforcement amid rising crime. Director Uwe Boll has described the project as a political thriller intended to reflect contemporary social issues rather than glorify vigilante justice.

The cast also includes Costas Mandylor, Desiree Giorgetti, Steffen Mennekes, Neb Chupin, and Mukit Abdul Hamid.

Boll later announced on X that a sequel, Citizen Vigilante 2, is scheduled for release in 2027. Responding to a post showing the film climbing to second place on Apple TV’s movie rankings, Musk commented that the sequel would be “even better.”

The online promotion has renewed discussion around the film, which continues to generate attention for both its political themes and Hammer’s return to acting.
