Car Explosion in Delhi Kills Eight, Injures 19
Delhi, November 11, 2025 — A car explosion in the heart of Delhi on Monday killed at least eight people and injured 19 others, authorities confirmed. The blast occurred near the historic Red Fort, close to the Lal Qila Metro Station, during the evening rush hour.
Investigation Underway
Police have not yet disclosed the cause of the explosion. Forensic teams and anti-terrorism units have arrived at the site to investigate. Authorities also arrested the owner of the car in connection with the incident, according to NDTV.
Government Response
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. He stated that he had reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior officials.
“Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi,” Modi said. “We hope the injured recover quickly. Authorities are assisting those affected.”
Impact on the Public
The explosion occurred in Old Delhi, one of the busiest areas of the city, as people returned home from work. Ambulances rushed victims to a nearby public hospital, AFP reporters said, as emergency teams managed the aftermath of the blast.
